Privacy Policy

Effective date: [to be set at launch]

Draft for review. This document is a template prepared from general research. It is not legal advice and should be reviewed by a licensed Texas attorney before launch.

Legacy Daily is operated by Christopher Smith d/b/a Legacy Daily, Jewett, Texas ("we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. Contact: legacydailyhq@gmail.com.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information: name, email, mobile phone number, and family member names and relationships.
  • Family content: answers, stories, photos, and recordings that you and your family submit.
  • Billing information: processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We never see or store full card numbers.
  • Shipping information: names and addresses for book orders.
  • Technical information: basic logs, device and browser type, and email open data needed to run the service.

2. How we use it

We use your information to send daily questions, store and display your family timeline, create and ship keepsake books, process payments, provide support, send service and (with consent) marketing messages, and comply with law. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use your family stories for advertising.

3. Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers that help us run Legacy Daily: payment processing (Stripe), email and text delivery (for example, an email platform and Twilio), data storage and automation tools, and book printing and shipping (Lulu). They may use it only to provide services to us. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect rights and safety. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties for marketing.

4. Children's privacy (COPPA)

Legacy Daily accounts are for adults 18 and older. Children under 13 may take part only through a parent or legal guardian's account. The parent creates the child's profile, gives verifiable consent before we collect any information from the child, and controls what is shared. We collect only what's needed to send age-appropriate questions and save answers (such as a first name and the child's answers). We do not contact children directly by phone, do not send them marketing, and do not show their content outside the family. Parents may review, delete, or stop further collection of their child's information at any time by emailing us. Teens 13–17 also participate only under a parent's account.

5. Text messages

If you opt in to texts, you'll get about one question per day. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

6. Email

Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and we honor requests promptly. Service emails, such as daily questions and receipts, continue while your account is active.

7. Your choices and rights

You may access, correct, export, or delete your information and your family's content by emailing us. If you cancel, you can export your stories. We delete account content within 90 days of an account deletion request, except as required for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention records. Residents of certain states (including Texas) may have additional rights under state privacy laws, and we will respond to verified requests.

8. Security and retention

We use reasonable safeguards, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure. We keep information while your account is active and as needed for the purposes above.

9. Changes

We will post updates here and notify account holders of material changes by email.
